Convert King-pin bushings to needle bearings

With the effort for better handling and comfort ,carbuilders swap frontends mainly for the purpose of better driveability, but these chevy´s got independent suspensions, as newer styles. Why bother change it?
Well, steering isnt so good it could be.... brass bushings is used original at these bombers, with their need of mainly grease maintenance, or you got a very shortlived frontend.
Here is the way to get these bombers frontends work like another new car.

Convert the kingpins with needle bearings!

Some work is needed for the bushing swap, but mainly you could do it in your own garage,

After removing  the kingpins , with use of slight roaming, the
spindle fits to the  needlebearings. This need just some small roaming, or use of a brakecylinder hone.Done in  a snug fit, without binding

Get the old kingpins reworked
with help of a machine shop to do a  less diameter in the ends to suit inner needlerbearing.

Mount new/reworked endcaps , block old greaseholes in spindles,
and your finished for a smoother handling !

The bearings needs exact quality and size to get optional strength for load and avoid excessive wear.
+ new knuckle thrust bearing, if needed.

After some checking, and find a deliverance shop of the needed parts, i´d go for the swap.
And it was worth the job!
Without scientific check i´d believe my steering got 20 - 30 % easier!
And without buying a finished set, i found shops who could deliver me all needed parts and machinery jobs locally, who helps if something needs rework after a while.

Yeah...... possible that a newer style front ends is a little better of use, BUT, with a upgrade it gonna get similar comfort as newers. Corvette was satisfied with it to -62.
If checkin around the MustangII is not the best swap, but the market pumped it out because the easiness of deliverance.
The really superguys tells that the AMC fronend was the best one, but productions are low, and easiness of delivery was out of question.

Why bother then?   With rack & pinion, upgraded kingpins, and discbrakes, stiffer swaybar, perhaps  bushingset of newer material, it could compete with what ever!

I´m driven with this setup in a couple of years now, and haven found any significant wear, but see a great different in the maintenance routines, reduced greasing to under half!
